Hey, we’re Soph (She/They) and Tam (She/Her)! Welcome to So, You’re Disabled! We are both part of the disability community and we’ve been best friends since we were kids:

Sophie and Tamara as kids (at about age 10) at school camp. Sophie is wearing a pink cap and Tamara is wearing a black beanie. They are both smiling and hugging.

Our
Values

Authenticity

We are authentically ourselves to forefront our lived experiences as a way to change the narrative on disability. We encourage our followers to live their best authentic lives too. We believe this is vital to looking after our health and wellbeing.

Respect

We recognise that our lived experiences are going to be different from others in our community. We value difference. We maintain a respectful and safe space for people to share their lived experiences with us.

Compassion

We are incredibly compassionate people and we use our compassion to educate those outside of the disability community on what it’s like to live with disability in a systemically ableist world. We do this with the assumption that if more people knew, they would better understand. And when people understand we can all thrive.

Accessibility

We do our very best to make our work accessible to everyone. Unfortunately, we can be limited by our budget but wherever possible, we do whatever we can to make everything we do accessible. We also encourage businesses to do the same. We will all benefit when businesses prioritise accessibility.
